Dr. Dena Lodato and Melissa O'Brien began working alongside each other in 2015. In 2016 they both got their CCRP certifications to expand their knowledge of rehabilitation and create proper plans to benefit post-operative patients. In 2021, Dr. Lodato opened Resurge Veterinary Surgical Specialists and Rehabilitation, LLC. It was a no-brainer for her to incorporate rehabilitation into her patients' recovery periods. Throughout the years, Resurge has expanded with more departments such as Neurology and Acupuncture. Rehabilitation and hyperbaric oxygen therapy have become a staple of recovery for a variety of cases in our hospital.

Our rehabilitation team is led by Dr. Dena Lodato, MS, DVM, ACVS, CCRP, CHT-V, who is a member of AARV. Dr. Lodato is the founder and owner of Resurge Veterinary Surgical Specialists and Rehabilitation, LLC.
Melissa O'Brien, RVT, CCRP, CHT-V, an AARV member, supervises our rehabilitation department and works alongside Jaycelin Higginbotham, CRT, also an AARV member. Melissa and Jaycelin work alongside each other while educating clients about the availability and benefits of rehabilitation therapy in veterinary medicine, and performing rehabilitation exercises with post-operative patients, neurological patients and geriatric patients that are customized to each patientâs needs.
Regan Gray, RVT, CHT-V, an AARV member, is our certified hyperbaric technician. She works alongside our rehabilitation team by scheduling HBOT treatments for recovering patients and educating clients on the benefits of HBOT.
Our rehabilitation team collaborates with each department to form proper treatment plans that best benefit our patients and properly educate our clients about rehabilitation and its benefits!
Our practice strives to provide high-quality treatment to patients and high-quality education to clients. Resurge promotes the importance that rehabilitation plays within a patient's recovery process, as well as the benefits rehabilitation provides to a large variety of patients. We encourage education about rehabilitation among local establishments and their clientele as well as also offering complimentary rehabilitation services with our surgical services.
Our practice is focused on one goal, the well-being of our patients. Each of our doctors, practitioners, nurses and medical coordinators strives to provide the utmost beneficial care for each of our patients.
Resurge plans to continue expanding knowledge and available services through our practice to the surrounding areas. We strive to educate our referral partners as well as clients to ensure patients receive the most beneficial care catered to their needs.
We also work closely with several non-profit organizations including Northshore Humane Society, Ana 4 Paws, Krewe Du Pooch, and the Audubon Zoo.
