At Valley Animal Hospital we follow the AARV Model Standards for Veterinary Rehabilitation Practices in that we look to restore maximal function, relieve pain and improve quality of life for our patient. We look to educate the client on their pet's condition, the treatment modalities we are using, and what can be done in the future to improve the quality of their pet's life. Our rehabilitation team is comprised of a certified canine rehabilitation veterinarian and certified canine rehabilitation assistants. What are we most proud of about our practice? Dr. Bruce Henderson, the Hospital Director of Valley Animal Hospital, is a 1986 graduate of the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. As of 2014, he became certified in the veterinary rehabilitation specialty by the University of Tennessee program, making him a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner. Dr. Henderson's interests include rehabilitation medicine, reconstructive knee surgery, and geriatric medicine. He trained in acupuncture at Chi University. Dr. Henderson is also the Secretary of the American Association of Rehabilitation Veterinarians. Timothy Nigro came to Valley Animal Hospital with 20+ years of experience in the veterinary field as a technician. In those years he found a very deep and true passion to make a difference in the lives of animals, especially after his own dog's rehabilitation care here post hip surgery. As of November 2023, Timothy was officially certified as a canine rehabilitation assistant with the Canine Rehabilitation Institute and then became a member of AARV in January of 2024. Kelly Gettmann joined the Valley Animal Hospital rehabilitation team with more than 3 years of experience in the field as a technician. Her passion for the field came from years of personal experience with her own physical therapy treatments, as well as assisting her father through his physical therapy. As of December 2023, Kelly was officially certified as a canine rehabilitation assistant with the Canine Rehabilitation Institute and then became a member of AARV in January of 2024. Valley Animal Hospital's rehabilitation department plans to grow into and with the future as it changes and develops. We will do this by providing our team with the means to continue to learn and gain more knowledge as the veterinary rehabilitation field continues to progress and expand. We will also continue to provide the best care for our patients by staying up-to-date in our overall treatments and equipment.
